What to Look For When Finding Your Summer Swim Suits

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

If you are like most, then you love the summer but are not really thrilled with the fact that you wear so much less during those months. That thought seems to hit home a little harder because that also means trying on a one or two piece swimsuit. Trying to find perfect swim suits for your body shape can be frustrating, as you may feel that none of them look good at all. However, there are a few considerations that you should be aware of before heading off to the mall dressing rooms.

For those of you who have that hourglass shape it can take some extra time trying to find one that fits those curves just right. This can also be considered a full figured body and normally, this type can pretty much wear any suit, including the sexy bikini.

If you have an apple shaped body, meaning larger in the middle, then you can try one of the popular tankinis that have a tank top style and either a skirt bottom or bottoms that are cut like boy shorts. These swim suits are also a good choice for women who are a little on the shy side and do not want to show their stomach because the tank top covers the middle well and the skirt can help if you have larger thighs.

At one time for the plus size women, you were limited to one or two styles of swimwear swimsuits and they probably did not fit very well. Now, however, the designers have finally answered the call from plus sized woman and there are many different women’s swimsuits that are available for the larger gal. If you are a little insecure about going into a store to try on bathing suits, then you can always purchase swimwear online, which is a very convenient way to shop.

When considering the best suit for your body shape or plus size, it can be easy to just reach out for that slimming black suit and take it. Yes, black is slimming, but the solid color needs to be broken up so choose a pattern or print for your best areas.

This helps the black remain to cover problem areas, while patterns or prints should show off your assets. Many times a plus sized woman will opt for a large over-size shirt as a cover up over swim suits, believing that is must look good because it is loose. In reality, this will only makes her look even heavier; look for a cover up that is not skin tight but not too loose either.

Plus Size Bathing Suits - Frustrated With Finding Selection?

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Are you sick of all the stores that only carry a few different types of plus size bathing suits? Do you want more selection and styles to make you feel better and look better on the beach and by the pool this summer? There are ways to get a better selection of swimwear for the plus size individual if you know where to look and how to shop. Here are some tips to help you along the way.

First, don’t you think that since over 60% of the United States population is plus size they would cater more towards this group instead of the paper thin women that could wear a napkin and cover almost their entire body? This is, for whatever reason, just not the case, but there are a few places that have caught on and do cater to those of us that are plus sized.

Second, when you are shopping for plus size bathing suits you need to know what you are looking for and how to find it. If you try to use department stores you will be out of luck, unless all you want is a solid colored swimsuit that is one piece and plain. If that is what you want, then your local Walmart will be able to provide, although the quality will be very lack luster and you will be lucky if it last an entire summer.

Last, if you want to know exactly how I shop for plus size bathing suits and how I always find the latest fashion and choices for me, then you need to do your shopping online. I know this is a bit scary at first because you do not get to try the suit on, but they do have a great return policy at most online sites that will allow you to try it for a couple of days and if it does not fit or is not what you were hoping for, then you can return it for a full refund.

How to Choose the Right Plus Size Bathing Suits

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Everyone enjoys a good day on the beach or at the pool, be it to swim or just to enjoy the sun. Of course, it also gives you a chance to show off that new bathing suit you bought last week and haven’t worn yet. Women like to know that their bathing suits compliment them, but not many realize that not all body shapes are fit for bikinis. Whether you are a size 6 or a plus size, bathing suits depend for the most part on the body type and bra type. What feels comfortable for you might not be comfortable for someone else.

For example, plus size bathing suits are harder to find than other sizes, and yet they are more important. For an overweight woman, the bathing suit she chooses can make her look very good, or very bad. A bikini is definitely not a good choice, and neither are stripes. Plain colors work best. A one or two piece bathing suit can be appropriate, as long as the two-piece covers the stomach. There are some bathing suits that have short skirts attached, which might be more comfortable in the long run and will go a long way towards making women feel better about wearing bathing suits out in public.

Fabric and bra type also affect the comfort level. Most swimwear is made of polyester, but some of them stretch more than others and those are the ones you want. Bathing suits that are too tight will chafe, and there is no need to worry that the ones that are a little looser will fall off; that won’t happen as quickly as you might think. With regards to bra type, the suit can be under wired or have a soft cup or occasionally both. This depends more on what you are used to; neither of them is better than the other.

Whether your body shape is triangular or a classic hourglass figure, there is a swim suit just for you. A sports equipment store is a good place to start your search and if they don’t carry the suit you need (and this sometimes happens with plus size bathing suits) simply try the department store closest to you. Chances are they’ll have exactly what you’re looking for. On the off chance that they don’t, you can search for bathing suits online. Most online stores deliver directly to your doorstep, and you’ll be enjoying the sun and water before you know it.

Tips For Your Bathing Suit Shopping Needs

Tips for your bathing suit shopping needs

I think, as a bigger chested girl, I can say that it is hard to find a bathing suit that fits right on top and bottom. I know that some ladies out there have the same problem as I do, just the other way around. Being bigger on bottom than on top is just as tricky. But here are some tips that will benefit us all when going shopping for a bathing suit.

First off, DON’T be afraid of a little color!! Bright colors can be just as slimming as darker colors, as long as you match them correctly. For example, if your bathing suit is a cute, light blue and white flower print, then you would need to find a sarong to match the blue on your suit. If you do this it will still give you the slimming line that your looking for.

Also, when shopping for a bathing suit top for a bigger chested girl always keep in mind that support needs to be one of your top priorities. This mean that strapless style swim suits, no matter how good the support may seem, will fail you larger breasted ladies in the end. The strapless swim suit is uncomfortable and nonsupporting. The best bathing suit a busty girl can buy is one that has good, strong straps and maybe even an underwire bra built in. But, this depends on how comfortable you are with an underwire. If your smaller on bottom be cautious of the line of your leg. Bathing suits with shorts or a skirt can be very unflattering for those lacking some booty.

For girls that are bigger on bottom I would suggest that you steer clear of higher “V” cut bottoms because they can make your thigh and hip area look larger and wider than they really are, thus drawing the eye down. The best tip I can give a woman that has a larger tush or thigh is a skirt bathing suit or boy cut bottom that can help to hide your thighs a little better. These can also give your rump a more slimming look, which is always welcome when your packing junk in your trunk! This can also be applied to wearing a sarong if you did decide to go with a “V” cut bathing suit. There are some bathing suits with adjustable ties on the sides. Sometimes these will help to fit your thighs better, but it bathing suit bottoms with a thicker side generally give a more slimming, shaping look.

I hope that these tips help you when your looking for your next swim suit!!

Plus Size Swim Suits - No Selection For Plus Size Has Ended!

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Are you sick of going shopping for swim suits only to find out that all the selection is for those that are much smaller than you? Does it make any sense that over half of our population is like you and me, plus size, and we get no selection when it comes to swim suits? Well, that has all ended and when it comes to plus size swim suits there is plenty of selection if you know where to shop for your new swim wear. Here is what you need to know.

First, if you try to use the department stores for plus size swim suits you will be stuck with a few solid colors to choose from and that will be about it. This is ridiculous and not the way you should have to shop. Just because we are plus size does not mean that we should not be able to go to the beach, the lake, or the pool this summer and look cute. We want to look cute too, but we never will by shopping for plus size swim suits at department stores.

Second, you can try the outlet malls and some of them actually have a okay selection. However, they will still not have the most up to date fashions and colors because outlet malls tend to be like huge clearance racks. They will be a lot of overstocks from last year, but you can find a decent suit that you like at an outlet mall.

Last, and the best way to shop for plus size swim suits is to do it online. There are actually a few websites that are dedicated specifically to the plus size woman and this makes life a lot easier. They will feature a large selection of different designs, patterns, and colors. This will make you feel great knowing that you can choose from more than just a few brands and a few styles for your swim suit this season. You have to look cute so make sure you give yourself the best chance by shopping online.
